—Introduces Porcelain Place Cards—

STERLING, VA, April 9, 2008…Herend will add multiple serving pieces to the “Antique Iris” and “Princess Victoria” dinnerware patterns as well as introduce porcelain Place Cards at the New York Tabletop Market, April 9-13.  These introductions will be shown at the Herend Showroom at 41 Madison Avenue on the 10th floor.

“In response to the enthusiastic reception to the recently introduced ‘Antique Iris’ and ‘Princess Victoria’ patterns, Herend adds several serving pieces to complement each pattern and colorway.  For example, in the ‘Princess Victoria’ pattern, the pieces are available in five different colorways,” said Maureen Ellis, director of marketing for Herend in the U.S.  “These accessory pieces are designed to complement an already beautiful table setting or cocktail party as well as in the case of the tea/coffee service and tureen, serve as decorative items on a buffet.”

The Antique Iris dinnerware pattern with its delicate spring floral pattern debuted in 2007.  Its graceful design consists of an iris motif complemented by smaller flowers, executed in blue, lavender, red and yellow.  Five serving pieces will be added to the collection, including a Round Bowl (7 ½-inch diameter), Square Cake Plate with Handles (9 ½-inch square), Tureen with Branch Handles (9 ½-inches high), Platter (15-inches long, 11 ½-inches wide) and Triangle Dish (9 ½-inches long).  Suggested retail prices: Round Bowl $220, Square Cake Plate $390, Tureen $1,320, Platter $470 and Triangle Dish $270.

Princess Victoria also debuted in 2007, and expands at this market with the introduction of thirteen complementary serving pieces in each of five colorways: black, blue, green, raspberry and rust.  The pattern takes a design element from “Queen Victoria” and exquisitely frames each piece with it.  In addition to the five pieces mentioned above in “Antique Iris,” eight additional pieces will be available in the “Princess Victoria” design, including a Rectangular Tray with Branch Handles (18-inches long), Rim Soup Bowl (8-inch diameter), Teapot with Rose Finial (5 ½-inches high), Covered Sugar (4-inches high), Creamer (3 ½-inches high), Coffee Pot (8 ½-inches high), Fruit Dish (11-inch square) and

Chop Plate (12-inch diameter).  Suggested retail prices for the thirteen items range from $80 for the Creamer to $960 for the Tureen.

Herend will also introduce porcelain Place Cards (3 ¾-inches long, 1 ½-inches high) in four patterns: “Chinese Bouquet Green,” “Golden Edge,” “Rothschild Bird” and “Victoria’s Garden.”  A design element is taken from each dinnerware pattern, except “Golden Edge,” and tucked on the left side leaving room for writing an honored guest’s name with a dry-erase pen on the right.  The “Golden Edge” Place Card has a thin 24-karat-gold line framing the card’s writing space.  Suggested retail price for the “Chinese Bouquet Green” and “Victoria’s Garden” Place Cards is $35 each, “Rothschild Bird” is $60, and “Golden Edge” is $20.

Since its founding in 1826, Herend has retained the loyalty of royal houses and illustrious personalities throughout its 182-year history.  Herend has consistently maintained a level of superior artistic excellence that places it head and shoulders above others.  The Manufactory employs 530 painters to hand paint each exquisite porcelain piece with many items made by hand such as the open work items, several of the finials and woven baskets.  Depending upon the intricacy of the design, an artist can take up to eight hours to complete a single piece.  The result is an extraordinary piece of china unique in its detail and perfection.

Herend is imported by Martin’s Herend Imports, a family-owned and operated company, founded by Robert and Lois Grimm in 1957.  The Grimms had the vision and insight to bring the line into the U.S. 51 years ago when Hungary was under Communist rule.  Today, the reins of the business are in the capable hands of their daughter, Dianne Grimm Murphy, and her daughter, Kimberley Kimball.
